ABSTRACT

Three groupings are used as blocks to collect and assemble the technical, historical, and social aspects of architecture. Building-systems integration describes technical trends toward a systems theory basis of design, levels of systems thinking, and a systems-integration paradigm. Dynamics of the profession explain the historical block that bridges between the Four Inquiries, their host institutions, and the individual agents of each concern. Finally, postindustrial convergence illustrates how the four architectural inquiries have been manifested by social, technical, economic, and ecological forces of change.
