ABSTRACT
It was in the autumn of 2000 that I first encountered manuscripts in my historical research. That was in connection with a project I was working on at the National Archives of Iceland in Reykjavík. It is safe to say that my first visit to the National Archives would have momentous significance for me as a historian – as ever since that moment I have been fascinated by the world of manuscripts.
