ABSTRACT

The 1598 pair of bodies pattern has a wide centre bone and the remaining bones on the front panel are shaped around the bust. The number of bones you wish to use will differ depending on the size of your garment and the rigidity that you require; you may also opt to fully bone the front to be accurate to the original garment. The shaping around the bust on the front panel can also be omitted. Use the diagram as a guide when drawing the bone channels for your corset. These can be 1cm wide or smaller depending on the width of the boning you choose to use; the narrower boning is more historically accurate. The eyelet channel at the centre back is 1.3cm wide.
