ABSTRACT

The number of bones differs from the original corset bodice which is fully boned, this is optional and will depend on the final finish you require. Use the diagram provided as a guide and amend the number of bones depending on the size of your corset bodice and the rigidity that you require. The bone channels in this pattern are 0.7cm wide to fit a bone that is 0.5cm wide; this is close to the original garment and suits the style and period of the corset bodice. The centre back of Panel 1 is laced. This is extremely slim and may only allow you enough room for eyelets at the very centre back. Metal bones with eyelet holes for the centre back opening are available and could be a good solution for this particular corset bodice. If these are not available the other option is to place a bone down the centre back and eyelet to the side of the bone; there is enough room to eyelet to just below the waist.
