ABSTRACT

Using the diagram as a guide draw the bone channels for each panel on your completed pattern. The number of bones will differ depending on the size of your stays and the rigidity that you require. The bone channels in this pattern are 0.7cm wide to fit a bone that is 0.5cm wide; this is closer to the original garment and suits the style and period of the stays. These can be amended to wider bone channels and bones if required. At the centre back there are two bone channels that are 1cm wide with a central eyelet channel that is 1.3cm wide on both sides for lacing up the stays.
