ABSTRACT

This 1890 corset is part of a collection held at the Hereford Museum Resource and Learning Centre, Hereford, England and is made from black glazed cotton. The corset is lined with white cotton twill and the top and bottom edges are bound with cotton tape, it has only eight panels and is stiffened with spiral steels. The seams are machine sewn towards the outside of the corset and are covered with decorative fabric strips of pale pink blossom on a black background to create the bone channels. The top edge has a black and beige lace trim.
