ABSTRACT

Successful applicants come to a conference where there are workshops on how to understand how to use a budget, how to introduce the project, meet with other teachers, and join the Teacher Learning and Leadership Program (TLLP) community. During their TLLP project, participants become part of Mentoring Moments, an online community for sharing resources, learning and discussion. TLLP turns out to be an extraordinary example of how teachers learn and learn to lead when they have the power and possibilities for organizing the learning with their peers. In all cases, people learned three big ideas concerning leadership: collaboration, courage and support. They described how they learned to share, be open about their practice and to extend leadership to other team members. For them, leadership meant building their own capacity to learn new knowledge and skills as well as how to work with and learn from one another.
