ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, we illustrated how an individual’s environmental awareness can prompt changes in the display of consumer demand. In this chapter we illustrate how producers can be prompted to re-examine their own production and supply capabilities in the context of environmental realities. The laws of thermodynamics have a real effect on production capabilities. Therefore, there is a clear need to revise the standard theory of the firm in cognisance of these laws. Such revision is the main purpose of this chapter.
