ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a thorough, accessible summary of the research that has been carried out on the effect of yoga on mental health conditions. Just in the last few years, scores of articles have been published on the subject. The chapter distills key findings from that growing body of research, explaining the psychosocial and physiological reasons behind yoga’s impact on mental and emotional health. The chapter ends with a discussion of research-based evidence vis-à-vis outcome-based therapy, and uses that to further contextualize the Three-Pronged Model.
