ABSTRACT
Searching for, choosing, learning, and conducting marvelous repertoire is a lifelong process and an art unto itself, not only necessary for people's own personal growth, but for those who benefit from hearing it. The more repertoire they learn in their formative years, the better and bigger their reference point will be, and the larger the pool they will have from which to draw works for future performances. People should be creative and diligent when searching for contemporary repertoire. One may also be able to view recent programs by respected ensembles online to get repertoire ideas. Although it is important to be mindful of the choir's size and makeup when choosing repertoire, do not shy away from introducing early music to school choirs out of fear that the singers might be too young or inexperienced or because the choir is too large. Repertoire selection is not only rewarding but also a crucial way to disseminate and preserve outstanding music.
