ABSTRACT

Many tasks in audio production are achieved by complex processes which require the use of several different audio effects, or may not even be achieved by the use of audio effects. In the context of audio production, more so than in consumer-facing playback systems, access to multitrack audio can be leveraged to enhance the segmentation process. A large part of the sound engineer’s job is configuring parameters on various specialized signal processing devices. At the early stages of the mixing and editing process of a multitrack mix, the mix engineer will typically group audio tracks into subgroups. A number of studies deal with analyzing raw tracks and a target mix in order to reconstruct the parameter values of audio effects applied to each track. H. Katayose et al. investigated the possibility of facilitating both processing chain selection and parameter setting, by copying these from a reference mix session.
