ABSTRACT

This chapter’s focus is on Six Feet Under, an HBO television drama than ran from 2001 to 2005 about a family-owned funeral home, which showed us how professionals live with death and meet the needs of the deceased and grieving. For all of us, death is inevitable and random, tragic, and sometimes sweet. Regardless of the cause of our death, or the amount of suffering our demise entails for our embodied selves, death always brings release. It is those left behind who have a tough burden as they struggle to make sense of it all.
