The crowd is sarcastically singing a thank you to Herbert Hoover – saying that “prosperity was ‘round the corner” but then they “paid through the nose.” They blame him for the conditions of the Great Depression – which allows us to ask a question: how much blame does Herbert Hoover deserve?
