ABSTRACT
Glen gives Robbie some advice about the future. Glen says that “If you wanna be somebody, it’s all about the green.” Robbie and Glen seem to have different values. Glen and his friends think the main goal of life should be to earn a large income. Robbie seems to think differently and wants a career that’s more meaningful. Many professions that people think are more fun or meaningful – like teaching, social work, and acting – have lower salaries. The reason is that an increased supply of people wish to get into those professions, pushing the wages lower.
