ABSTRACT

It is now known that to develop skills in language and social communication, infants have to learn to look at other people’s faces and feel comfortable in contact with others. Most children begin to do this from six weeks of age. However, some children seem much less interested in looking at others. Other children are very sensitive and do not appear to enjoy cuddles from an early age. These children are at much higher risk of developing delays in their language and social skills and difficulties in their social relationships.
