ABSTRACT

Children learn happiness and unhappiness from their own experiences and from the beliefs and attitudes of the people who take care of them. They learn to be loved and to be loving, and these tendencies can affect them in life-long ways. We live in a culture that places a great deal of emphasis on individual rights and personal responsibility but beliefs around happiness are not very clear. On one hand we are told happiness is possible, on the other we are bombarded with information that serves to feed and cultivate our unhappiness.
