ABSTRACT

Depression is a slowed down feeling - a sensation of heaviness and weight. Some of the common symptoms of depression include tearfulness, irritability, sleeplessness, negative or suicidal thinking, feelings of tiredness, loss of appetite, lack of interest and motivation, loss of ability to concentrate and withdrawal from social activities. Depression can sometimes be triggered by biological problems such as thyroid imbalances, physical inactivity or the patterns associated with the female hormonal cycles. Very commonly however, depression tends to set in after a long period of living with a high tension emotion such as anxiety or anger. The depression tells that the person is feeling helpless and hopeless. Many people live in the shadow of toxic guilt and shame, but as the feelings are very hard to live with, and hard to talk about, people often try to avoid awareness of them.
