About this life skill This life skill is key if a teenager is to live life unencumbered by any painful experiences from their past. If we are unable to grieve for important losses in our life and process painful experiences, they will live on to haunt us in some form or other, spoiling health, happiness, relationships and capacity to function. This is something that has been recognised by great minds for many years:

‘He who remains passive when overwhelmed with grief loses his best chance of recovering elasticity of mind’ (Charles Darwin, 1872).
