ABSTRACT
Optional work offers extension or differentiated activities to further develop or extend the pupils’ understanding and skills of social interaction and communication. Help pupils to think more deeply about their own friends. Ask the group to complete the Friendship activity page. Use the A Good Friend Word search activity page to help pupils to identify ten qualities of a good friend. First ask the group where they might meet new friends. Write ideas on the board and then using magazines ask pupils to cut out pictures and make a collage of places or situations where people might meet and make new friends. This could be done individually, in pairs or as a whole group. People may choose to categorise the pictures, for example, at school, at work, at a disco, through parents/carers and family.
