ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a narrative intervention programme to enhance the understanding and facilitating the expression of narratives or stories in students with varied speech, language and communication needs in the later primary years and in secondary schools. It details the ninth session of the programme. This session revise and recap the story elements of the story planner covered in the previous session, with a focus on characters. Facilitator need to make a list of all the new adjectives that students have learned through their character description tasks from last session. They need to remind students of the story planner and where characters fit into the planner. The facilitator can begin the discussion by stating who her hero is, and providing reasons for her choice. Each student is then given the opportunity to share their hero with the group. Facilitator need to cover the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
