ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a narrative intervention programme to enhance the understanding and facilitating the expression of narratives or stories in students with varied speech, language and communication needs in the later primary years and in secondary schools. It details the fifteenth session of the programme. Throughout this sessions, students have been encouraged to evaluate their own and other people’s stories. Facilitator needs to discuss with students the importance and role of self-evaluation in their learning and continual development. They need to explore the ways they can provide feedback and learn from other members of the group, the importance of giving positive feedback first, and making sure all feedback is constructive and consists of suggestions for improvement. The chapter provides some topic areas which the students can use to build their stories around. Their story needs to be captivating, exciting and well structured with all the three main elements of the story planner.
