ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a narrative intervention programme to enhance the understanding and facilitating the expression of narratives or stories in students with varied speech, language and communication needs in the later primary years and in secondary schools. It details the twentieth session of the programme. This session is a good opportunity to review the whole programme and emphasise the most important aspects around storytelling. The session focuses on practising the storytelling skills that have been covered previously and revisiting concepts that facilitators feel are less understood by the students. This is the opportunity to revise skills and concepts that have been covered previously. The students are presented with seven different objects and have to choose four. Students are required to construct a well structured and coherent story using all four objects. Facilitator needs to encourage students to use the story planner and the story template forms to assist them with their story construction.
