ABSTRACT

Goals are dreams with a timescale. An important step towards setting and achieving life goals is to start noticing the promises we make and then get into the habit of keeping them. There are different categories of goals, all of them valid and all of them important. People have different goals which may depend on their age, sex, social class, culture, family tradition and other factors. Very many people never think about their goals; they don’t make long-term plans but take things as they come. Brian Mayne has created a programme in which he teaches people about the importance of setting goals and encourages them to represent their goals in a pictorial form. He stresses that goals represented as colourful pictures are more likely to be realised than those expressed in words: people identify with them and remember them better.
