ABSTRACT

Chapter 16 describes the Cambridge Primary Review Trust/University of York Dialogic Teaching Project and the author’s work on dialogic teaching that informed it. Funded 2014–17 by the UK Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), the project piloted and implemented a programme designed to energise classroom talk and thereby enhance students’ engagement, thinking, learning and attainment, especially in contexts of social and educational disadvantage. The programme was successfully subjected to randomised control trial with 5000 students in three English cities.
