ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 focuses on the Netflix cult series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul that produce exciting new modes of engaging with a range of anti-heroic characters and at the same time demonstrate fruitful environmental debates. Such series are a revelation for their thoughtful and sophisticated engagement with complex character development, referencing political and environmental concerns. Through extensive development of plots and sophisticated long-playing narratives, such new televisual formats are ideal for exploring a range of environmental issues around ‘doing the right thing’ and promoting new modes of frugal and sustainable living.
