ABSTRACT

An organization is an extension of the behaviors of its leaders. According to Pitasky, the essential foundation of creating a culture that drives social and economic value requires embracing servant leadership. A top-or bottom-line growth number doesn't translate for most people doing the work in an organization. "As a leader, you must put your goals in language people can execute on", Rutherford says. People need to know what they need to accomplish each day in line with the organization's larger purpose. Building a culture around purpose and executional excellence requires transparency as a leader and organization. People need to see their leaders in action doing what they expect of them- being sincere, genuine, and honest to themselves and others. One of the most powerful cultural change tools leaders have is storytelling. Some of the world's most successful leaders have been known for their ability to tell stories that effect change.
