ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on building a following through traditional methods. Building the following is essential in order to have a successful social media platform. In the classroom, the author use formative assessment to determine where their students are and then to create learning paths from there. The social media following is built in the same way. Traditional Methods that Build a Social Media Following – connects parents to one's school through the communication methods that he has used in the past along with new ideas to share his hashtag. Parents of elementary school-age students are likely on Facebook. As their children get older, they usually migrate to Twitter to connect with their schools. Digital citizenship has come far enough that most in education are comfortable using a public profile as they know that they will use the account in appropriate ways.
