ABSTRACT

Going to the source is a common sense strategy, but sometimes it is not common practice. Going to the source means exactly what it says. When there is a conflict, a problem, or a concern, the reader goes to find out more details from those individuals who can give them the most accurate information. Many times, going to the source means directly approaching those who are involved in the situation. Sometimes going to the source means observing the situation and then deciding how to proceed. At a minimum, going to the source requires courage coupled with good judgment. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons not to go to the source. There might be issues of legality or safety, or a record of continued problems. Most situations can be resolved simply when we go to the source. Many situations become worse because the individuals did not go to the source in the beginning.
