ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 reviews current approaches to speech production and pronunciation instruction. It touches on L1 influence in the development of the pronunciation of syllable structure. The main focus is on the development of complexity, accuracy, and fluency in the spoken output of the learners. In addition, the role of fluency practice is considered, as well as the role of L1 morpho-phonology on reading and writing.
