ABSTRACT
Family side-occupations of commune members are essential supplements to the socialist collective economy and are in conformity with the level of development of productive forces at the present stage and the degree of awareness of the masses. In order to promote the development of the diversified economy, the commercial department must seriously carry out the existing policies of the Party in the countryside. Some of the comrades think that the greater part of the diversified economy involves commodity production, and as the commodity system is the soil engendering capitalism, they are afraid that the promotion of a diversified economy would give rise to capitalism. Under the condition of guaranteeing the development of the collective economy of the people's commune with absolute superiority, it is also necessary to permit and encourage the commune members to take up proper family side-occupations.
