ABSTRACT

Communication is so important. We use it in every aspect of our lives. It is not just about what we do or don’t say; it is also about how we say it.

To be able to teach children how to communicate effectively, as practitioners, we need to start to think about it. How do we choose which words to use? How do we communicate in different contexts? How do we manage our communication to avoid misunderstandings? What do we do both consciously and automatically to improve our communication skills? Once we understand and are aware of these things, we can teach children how they can do the same.
