ABSTRACT

The general warm-up games mainly for working on bringing the group together and for children to focus and start using their bodies and getting their voices ready for the session. A warm up should always be included in the structure of the session for this purpose but also as a routine for the participants. Some session plans will contain theme-related/story-related warm ups already. Children should be explicitly taken through the group rules of the session during the introduction so they know expectations and so these skills can be commented on and developed. The practitioner stands at one end of the room, and all children stand in a line next to the practitioner with backs against the wall. The practitioner then starts marching forwards while saying the days of the week – encourage the children to join in.
