ABSTRACT

ROLE-PLAY TECHNIQUES Role-play is a behavioural rehearsal technique, used to practise ways of behaving. This can often provoke anxiety, particularly in clients who have no previous experience of role-play. However, it has been found to be one of the most useful methods of effecting behavioural change. To run an effective role-play, facilitators should be confident about what they are doing and feel in control of the situation. They must explain the rationale and process in detail to clients before starting.
