Identifying and Exploring Feelings / Self-esteem / Identity Identifying and Exploring Feelings / Self-esteem / Identity General Issues covered in this session How are you feeling today/Right now? Do you sometimes feel these other feelings too? Which one do you feel the most often? Is it OK to have strong feelings? On those times when you have really strong feelings, what can you do with those feelings? What have you found that helps? Who do you talk to? Things that other people have found which help them include.… What sorts of things make you feel-anxious/worried/stressed/guilty/depressed? Are some of those feelings sometimes to do with the person you help care for? Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your feelings or not in control of what you do because of your feelings? What sorts of things do you do when you feel like this? Session 3 Link in issues of bullying (explored in School Session 4) to building self-esteem. Confidence building and identity. Identify level and type of material used with regard to age and creative inclination. Work from ‘User Notes’ for some of the worksheets. What do you think about yourself? Note to worker - while this session covers potentially difficult issues - it can also be fun! Other Ideas Free-style drawing of a Bubble dialogue - Fill in thoughts/dialogue and/or complete unfinished sentence, eg. Something that worries me..... Draw and write - young carer draws something related to home situation and then writes about it eg. Here 1 am helping mum get dressed - What is Mum saying, what am 1 thinking? Modelling Clay - for letting off steam/relationships/feelings. Face Masks - for discovering that the face that shows on the outside may be different to what is going on in the inside. Make Sock puppets to explore relationships/enacting of past events. The puppet game (described in user notes) can be adapted to express feelings also.
