ABSTRACT

Emotions are experienced continuously while interacting within relationships. In order to have a satisfactory relationship, person needs to be able to express and manage their emotions and feelings. The session is intended to enable individuals to recognise their own emotions and be able to manage their own feelings and responses. Emotions can be managed in a positive or negative way. The activities in the session provide a forum to discuss, a method of examining personal reactions to emotions and strategies to manage them in a helpful way. Many of the skills learnt in other sessions should be present in the suggestions the group members offer for the activity. Many of the same strategies should appear under different emotional headings. Whilst writing emotions and feelings on a flip-chart, ask the group members what relationship interactions might be like without emotions and feelings. Also ask what having emotions and feelings brings to interactions with others.
