ABSTRACT

During one lunch break a very angry duty teacher delivered a male student from grade 7 to the Assistant Principal saying that she had caught this boy out in the playground lifting up the skirts of two girls. The teacher then asked the boy the scripted questions in a relaxed manner and then explained to the boy that he would ask him the same questions in the conference and would this be OK. The boy realised that lifting up their skirts was the wrong thing to do but some of this was not his fault. The teacher visited the girls' classroom and requested that they be allowed to leave class to help the teacher with a problem. The girls admitted their part in the incident including the hiding and laughing when the duty teacher intervened. Both girls agreed that their teasing and harassment were inappropriate, especially after they found out how upset the boy had become.
