May A Vulcan bomber took off from Ascension Island and bombed Port Stanley airport to prevent the Argentinians using it to land troops and supplies.
The Argentinian cruiser General Belgrano was sunk by a British submarine, killing around 360. Two days later HMS Sheffield was sunk by Exocet missiles.
