ABSTRACT

Using income distribution charts, Sanders demonstrated increasing income inequality and the decline of the middle class. Sanders argued that the economic and political system was not working for the poor and middle class as wealth became more concentrated and Supreme Court rulings allowed more money to flow from the rich into campaign coffers. In 2016, the Green Party emphasized education for sustainable economic development in contrast to the Republican's emphasis on free markets and the human capital education theories of Democrats. A distinguishing feature of the Green Party was promotion of arts education to improve social, environmental and political conditions. No other political party emphasized the importance of the arts for improving the quality of society. Protecting the environment is a central focus of the Green Party. During the 2000 presidential campaign, Ralph Nader made consumerism a central piece of his educational policy statements.
