ABSTRACT

0t is important for people with a new diagnosis of AS to be able to tell their own stories. This may help them to make sense of their condition, create an internal narrative, impose a structure and gain an understanding of themselves. It is also important to hear other people’s stories, their journeys, struggles, similar problems and ways of coping. For most people, a late diagnosis can be a turning point in their lives, a change in perception. There is a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. For most people it’s good to know that they are not alone and that there are many other people on a similar pathway.
