ABSTRACT
In many respects there is a connection between East-W est in dustrial cooperation and the economic policy of the participating countries. Specific problems arise from the interaction between the integrating tendencies in East and West and the efforts to in crease East-W est cooperation. In this section we shall deal with only a few aspects of economic policy that are especially relevant to East-W est cooperation: the question of CMEA integration and East-W est cooperation; the relationships between CMEA and the EEC; the economic relations of the United States and the Eastern countries; the implications for the developing countries; and the meaning of the Helsinki acts for East-W est cooperation.
