ABSTRACT

Since the m idsixties studies of East-W est economic relations have repeatedly called attention to the growing importance of in­ dustrial and scientific-technical cooperation between W estern and Eastern partners. The number of cooperation agreem ents con­ cluded and negotiations begun between firm s and enterprises in East and West shows a steady r ise . At the governmental level traditional trade agreements between Eastern and W estern coun­ tr ie s are generally being complemented by intergovernmental agreem ents for the promotion of scientific-technical and industrial cooperation (see Chapter 8).
