ABSTRACT

Sport has received scant attention in the corporate entrepreneurship literature, particularly with respect to the development of innovation. This chapter contributes to filling the gap between corporate entrepreneurship and sports innovation management. It argue that sport scholars need to pay more attention to the work in the field of corporate entrepreneurship. Despite the important role corporate entrepreneurship plays in the construction of sport innovation, there has been relatively little critical work focused on innovation in sport organizations. The chapter provides suggestions for the future of sports and corporate entrepreneurship by seeking to explore the role of sport business in society by taking an innovation perspective. It presents the ways sport and business are linked in meaning in terms of their focus on corporate ventures and strategic planning, which are part of corporate entrepreneurship. Corporate innovation is different to corporate entrepreneurship as it emphasizes change but not business creation.
