ABSTRACT
This chapter provides assignments that allow students to study and practice principles that define good science good writing. It presents example articles from The Lancet, one of the most prestigious science journals. Short science reports are much easier to write, particularly when the subject can provide limited coverage but interest readers in learning more. Short science reports, often called letter reports, science letters, perspectives, and commentaries, provide a good way for students to report their research findings. The articles deal with major science/medical issues—diseases transmissible from animals to humans. Farmers use fungicides and pesticides to increase yield of production. To investigate the actual impacts of the pesticides, scientists gathered pollen from different crops such as almonds, apples, blueberries, cranberries, cucumbers, pumpkins, and watermelons. The chapter illustrates the One Health concept, which combines research in veterinary diseases and health with human medicine and research.
