ABSTRACT
On the glorious day of July 1, 1965, work was begun on the construction of the Shaoshan Irrigation District project on the basis of the great call from Chairman Mao Zedong 'In agriculture learn from Dazhai" and under the direct leadership of the provincial committee. Using hydraulic and electric power, agricultural and sideline processing plants have been put into operation in over some places. The Party branch of the production brigade carried out the spirit that only with high production does it count, and with Dazhai as a model, they worked self-reliantly and struggled arduously, firmly grasping water management and construction. The Party committee of Nanzhushan Commune considered the overall situation, however, and did not bicker about the length of the canal, the difficulties of maintenance, or the size of the tasks. The various levels of Party committees of the irrigation district have also incorporated in their agendas the management of the Shaoshan Irrigation Bureau.
