Special courses for the teaching of self-suggestion have been organized on TV and radio for all who wish to learn it, in terms of "mental" gymnastics, everyday autotraining, etc. Suspect techniques are being offered the public in which "new methods" are advertised in vulgar terms. The chapter focuses on the practical possibilities of and relative limits on the application of self-suggestion in one or another condition. Children can safely use self-suggestion after they reach 7 years of age. Most children cannot master self-suggestion before that age. The chapter points out that although self-suggestion is a highly active method for influencing the human organism and mastering it, and can in many cases be useful. Great caution should be observed when self-suggesting elimination of pain. Self-suggestion has 110 counterindications. For example, the self-suggested state of calm and rest cannot be harmful, even in the most serious disease.
