ABSTRACT

Several issues regarding the interpretation of results are discussed in this chapter. First, the suprapersonal environment influences on residential satisfaction, PA, and NA are elaborated upon. Next, the effects for the characteristics of elder vulnerability on residential satisfaction, Positive Affect (PA), and Negative Affect (NA) are given further consideration. Then, interaction effects are discussed. The chapter gives suggestions for future research on person-environment interactions. It discusses the effects of the suprapersonal environment (SPE) on residential satisfaction and SWB, and considers the effects of elder vulnerability characteristics. To briefly reiterate the findings regarding these independent variables, the predictors of residential satisfaction are predominately from the domain of elder vulnerability characteristics: perceived social support; received social support; dwelling age; and tenure. The chapter discusses the major main effects results obtained by testing the Urban Ecological Model of Aging, and focuses on possible explanations as to why the interactions predicted by the model were not observed.
