ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the use of one sample t Test as a test of the difference between a sample mean and population mean. It explores the results through the probability level that the null hypothesis is true. One Sample t Test is used when a sample mean is compared to a population mean or a historical mean. Different from Independent Samples t Test and Dependent Samples t Test, One Sample t Test is used when a sample mean is compared to a population mean or a historical mean. Mathematics Assessment Test scores of National Assessment of Educational Progress from 250 randomly selected students at a particular school is compared to the national mean score. The national mean represents the population mean and the mean from a group of students at a particular school represents the sample mean. These two means are compared to see whether the sample mean differs from the population mean.
