ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the concept of simple linear regression as a way to predict one variable on the basis of another. It provides the concept of multiple regression as a way to predict one variable on the basis of multiple variables. The chapter shows how results of regression analysis are reported and interpreted. Simple linear regression and multiple regression are very common tools used to analyze the predictive power of one or more independent variables on a dependent variable. The concept of correlation and coefficient of determination applies to multiple correlations that involve a relationship between a combination of variables to increase predictability of the predicted variable. The higher the correlation coefficient, the more predictive it is between one variable and the other. High achievement would be the dependent variable.
