Assessing new developments book
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in this book. The book examines the cycle of training activity in solving business problems, in some detail, and focuses on how the idea of a system and the principles of instructional technology apply at each step. At present, cassette recording can only be provided economically in quantity by a special manufacturing process. Several technologies are being used for the recording, the best publicized being the electron beam recording of the EVR Partnership. The book explains which steps of the cycle do TV cassettes affect, which principles of instructional technology do TV cassettes make easier to implement, to what types of skilled performance are TV cassettes most relevant, what do TV cassettes uniquely do, that cannot be done in any other way and what are the costs of these benefits. It concludes that the unique selling point of TV cassettes is their convenience, which may not justify the cost.
