ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines numerous remedies and avenues for future research on workplace incivility and bullying, and offers a lengthy list of resources and measurements that researchers can use to learn more about the physical, psychological, social, and organizational effects of incivility and bullying on targets, bystanders/witnesses, departments, and campuses. Websites offer valuable information on workplace bullying that directs readers to helpful agencies, professional organizations, codes, laws, larger studies, and training facilities internationally. Bullying manifests itself in a variety of physical and psychosomatic symptoms. Stress caused by incivility and bullying in the workplace often leads to depression. Incivility and bullying affect targets' emotions and personality that in turn can cause eventual on-the-job burnout. Coping with the personal bully attacks needs to be measured in order to determine the capacity with which targets deal with the present and the far reaching circumstances of bullying.
